Austin Powers. Remember his movies "International Man of Mystery" or "The Spy Who Shagged Me"? Did it take you back in time? Even if it was in a cringeworthy exaggerated time capsule it was a fun look at fashion of the day.
For those of us who grew up in the 60's and 70's, do you still have those iconic photos of our parents wearing bright, flamboyant colours and patterns and those classic bell bottoms? I have a box full of those photos and love them dearly.
So why am I blogging about this? Well, for a little fun mostly! But as a professional photographer, I want to create an understanding about why I always suggest wearing something "timeless" when people ask about what to wear for their portrait. Ideally you want to avoid a dated look.
Next week I will blog about what to wear for your family portraits. It is that time of year and I am already filling up for the fall family portraits. Especially with our beautiful locations in Victoria, Sidney BC and surrounding areas.
Until then, I hope you enjoy a few photographs from last summer when my daughter and I wandered through one of the many great arts districts in Austin, Texas. We found this epic little vintage clothing shop walking distance from our AirBnB (which was an amazing airstream trailer!). With any luck the photos will take you back to a wonderful time too. Yeah Baby!
